Our top 2 nostalgic Disney movies for any age

When it comes to Disney movies, there are a lot of brand new ones to choose from, from Tangled to Frozen, the days of classic Disney animation are in the past. As great as the new Disney Pixar films are, today we are going to have a nostalgic look at the Disney movies of the past, starting right back at the beginning.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The first Disney movie was a movie from 1937 and is the earliest Disney animated film. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is based on the German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm and features Snow White as a lonely princess. With a wicked, jealous stepmother who finds out that Snow White is the fairest in the land and not herself she orders Snow White to be killed, but the huntsman cannot do it and instead advises the princess to run into the woods. It is while fleeing that Snow White is befriended by some small woodland creatures; Doc, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful and Dopey.. When the stepmother realises that Snow White is still alive she uses potion to disguise herself as an old lady and tricks snow white into taking a bite of a poisoned apple, which bestows “sleeping death” upon the recipient and can only be cured with loves first kiss.

The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is a firm Disney favourite and was made into a musical animated film in 1989. Based on a Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, the story of the Little Mermaid is about a mermaid princess who dreams of becoming a human. When one night Ariel, the little mermaid, takes a trip to the surface to watch a birthday celebration aboard a ship of Prince Eric she helps to save the prince whose ship is caught in a ferocious storm. On the shore she sings to him just before he gains consciousness before heading back into the sea. Prince Eric, vaguely remembers her singing as he is coming round and vows to find her. Meanwhile Ariel visits Ursula, the sea witch, who agrees to turn her into a human for three days in exchange for her voice. If Ariel receives the kiss of true love from Eric in this time she can remain a human permanently and if she does not she will be returned to the sea as a mermaid and will belong to Ursula. Will Ariel and Eric find each other in time?
